Piedrabuena

Sunday, 28 November

I have decided to stay 2 nights in Piedrabuena in a privat room con baño privado, to relax and have some holidays from holidays. 11 hours sleep, time for my blog, diary and daydreaming.

Piedrabuena is a very green, colourfull and very clean city; the inhabitants call it the oasis of the Patagonia. Thank to Rio Santa Cruz you find here a plenty of very freshly green plants which contrast with the rest pf patagonian pampa. On the first day I wanted to visit a very green Island Pavòn - but it was so windy that I was too afraid to cross the hudge bridge connecting the island with the land. The wind was pushing me away so much that I gave up. I have visited the Isla and surroundings on the next day with a very nice local guy. It was funny trip, we were attacked by a horse... and felt a bit in danger because of possibly living in this area elefantes patagonicos ;). They seem to feed from many different kinds of animals, we have found a lots of bones, most probably the residues of theit meals. :)

In Patagonia the hugest danger comes from killer horses

In the evening we were hanging around in some bars and then at 3:30 A.M. I took a bus to Rio Gallego. Quick change for the next bus in Rio to Ushuaia. The ride was maybe not so long - 13 hours, but the annoing thing was to cross the argentinian-chilean border once and then the chilenian-argentinian for the second time, which meaned four controls and some more queques - to control passport first, pick up ypur luggage, x-ray your luggage... uff. At the evening of 30 November I have finally arrived to The End of The World!

Ushuaia

Wednesday, 1. December

A very relaxed day with some friends (swiss-german-polish team) in a cosy cafè Tante Sara. Then I met again the israelian couple by which I was adopted a few days ago (just in the street) (met, not adopted) and we have visited the Museo Fin del Mundo. In the evening I have discovered place with Milongas and I took the first tango lessons in my life... I have always known that I love it!

Thursday, 2 December

Visit in the national Parkl Tierra del Fuego. So great and relaxing... In the evening with german friends kind of ... gala dinner and a little pub crawl till the sun rised...

Friday, 3 December

We went to the isla where Magellan Penguins and P... (other) Penguins live. It was my forth penguin colony which I have visited - and every is different regarding e.g. nesting materials and environment they inhabit. On the way there and back we admired the gorgeous views...

These penguins were the reason for this one-day trip, unfortunatelly I could not get closer...

In the evening my second milonga. The same people as two days before, everybody greets everybody with a kiss on a cheek, they greet me very friendly, too. Everybody dance with everybody, I am thankfull for their patience - it has to be a hard job dance with me having just a slight idea of the tango. It is their passion, the age does not matter. Especially touching was a maybe 8 years old girl asking (and dancing astonishing good and in a very elegant way) men of every age, reaching over 60, for a dance... Great evening.
