Ipanema Beach Hostel where I stay in Rio de Janeiro is not situated on the beach, but very nearby... I have just came here by plane from Salvador. Good, that I came, because there were some misunderstandings at the airport and one guy tried to convince me that my flight is postponed like 1 or 2 hours and the gate has been changed. So I did some jogging between some desks (ironically called infodesks) asking people for some information. It was just a pity that nobody spoke english... But - whatever - I have got my flight, me and my backpack have found luckily eachother at the airport in Rio (it is not obvious, so it is always an unique moment of happiness when I find my stuff and in the same size as at check in) and arrived safely in Ipanema... It is a secure and rich part of the town (next to my hostel there is a LV bag shop, not the cheapest one) so I could enjoy on my own a great... pizza and pepsi in one bar :)
Yesterday, still in Salvador, I have asked myself where the hell is my ski jacket (In Salvador obviously I did not wear it, by 30 degrees...). Besser spaet als gar nicht. And then it came out that Moises, a very nice taxi driver who picked me up from the Airport in Salvador, found it in his car and brought back to hostel... Good that I did not notice lacking jacket when freezing in Patagonia.
